Calibogue Press takes its name from Calibogue Sound in the Lowcountry of South Carolina. Though its origin is unknown, the word 'calibogue' possibly evolved from an indigenous term for 'deep spring' or 'sweet water' as evidenced in the bluffs along the sound's banks.
